Florida Gulf Coast University, opened in 1997, is located in Fort Myers in the heart of sunny Southwest Florida. The University offers a wide variety of excellent academic programs, 52 undergraduate and 31 graduate, for students from around the world. In just twelve years, FGCU has been nationally recognized for our academic excellence, athletic achievement (NCAA Division 1, Atlantic Sun Conference), and environmental engagement. The University is home to over 100 international students from over 40 different countries. FGCU is especially known for our high quality learning experience: including easy access to professors, small classes and innovative educational, business, and athletic programs. FGCU’s Lutgert College of Business was featured in the world renowned Princeton Review as part of this year’s best Business Schools. Our Professional Golf Management Program, accredited by the Professional Golf Association (PGA), is one of twenty in the nation and two in the state of Florida. As a public institution, it offers a quality education at a small fraction of the cost of a private institution making FGCU an outstanding value. Florida Gulf Coast University is built on 750 acres of protected wetland. This eco-friendly campus will soon include a 16 acre solar energy farm. The 2 megawatt farm will use solar energy that will be converted into usable electrical energy for the entire campus. The campus offers lake-front apartment-style housing to more than 2000 students. Living on-campus isn’t just a place to sleep, but rather an opportunity to live with and learn about the diverse backgrounds and varied life experiences of other students. The campus serves more than 9,000 students with many committed faculty and staff members. The FGCU campus is minutes away from some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches. As one of the country’s fastest growing regions, southwest Florida offers many places to dine, shop and play. There are several shopping centers within a short distance of the University: Miromar Outlets, Gulf Coast Town Center and Coconut Point Mall. They offer modern movie theatres, popular retails shops, great restaurants and entertainment destinations. Located only minutes from our campus is Germain Arena, which offers sporting events, concerts and ice-skating among other activities. The Southwest Florida International Airport is a short driving distance for easy access from your home, to your new home at Florida Gulf Coast University.
