Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) is a private, nonprofit university with an international student population of approximately 7,000 students. HPU is one of the most culturally diverse universities in America with students from all 50 U.S. states and nearly 80 countries. Founded in 1965, HPU prides itself on maintaining strong academic programs, small class sizes, individual attention to students, and a diverse faculty and student population. HPU is consistently recognized as a “Best Western” college by Princeton Review, included in U.S. News & World Report rankings of the “Best Colleges” in the U.S. and rated high for international diversity by Institute for International Education.

International Student Support Services
Hawai‘i Pacific University has an International Center (IC) that serves as an ongoing resource and support center for international students. IC Admission Counselors help facilitate international students’ transition to the U.S. and to HPU. IC Student Advisors are ready to assist with application procedures, visa issues, and work authorization. IC staff is dedicated to meeting international students’ needs and speak a total of 12 languages.

HPU offers more than 50 acclaimed undergraduate programs as well as 14 distinguished graduate programs. Hawai'i Pacific University recently welcomed ELS Language Centers, the international leader in academic English-language preparation, onto campus. ELS provides intensive English training, semi-intensive English training and their American Explorer program at HPU. HPU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). At HPU, students get the personal attention they deserve. The average class size is under 20 students and the student to faculty ratio is 15:1.

Campus Life/Student Activities
HPU has nearly 50 student organizations and the International Center coordinates many extracurricular activities especially for international students. One of the most popular activities is Intercultural Day, a well-attended annual event that includes a parade, country booths, and performances by various student groups. Hawai’i's pleasant year-round climate allows for unlimited outdoor recreational opportunities as well.
