Founded in 1909, The University of Wisconsin –La Crosse (UW-L) is a public comprehensive University located in La Crosse, Wisconsin, U.S.A. UW-L is a part of the prestigious University of Wisconsin School System and has a tradition of excellence. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks UW-L among the best colleges in the country. In their 2012 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” guide UW-L was ranked No. 2 for top public universities in the Midwest. The university was also recognized as a “best value” by Kiplinger's Personal Finance, ranking 34th nationally among public colleges for out-of-state students. The university has 88 undergraduate and 23 graduate programs in one of three colleges: the College of Business Administration, the College of Science and Health, and the College of Liberal Studies. With approximately 10,000 students on campus, the university is able to maintain a low student to faculty ratio of 21:1 and have an average class size of 26 students per class.There are over  400 international students on campus from over 45 different countries. International students can study in our ESL Institute prior to their degree program and are eligible for scholarships based on their academics. UW-L is located in southwestern Wisconsin on the scenic Mississippi River. The city of La Crosse is a regional economic hub with a population just over 50,000 people.
